Platform Overview

The ILS12.75 is our largest and most versatile platform. Engineered specifically for manufacturing environments, it can handle applications ranging from prototyping to automated manufacturing. In addition to a spacious 48" x 24" x 12", 13,824 in3 (1219 x 610 x 305 mm, 226,795 cm3) material processing envelope, the ILS12.75 incorporates our Pass-Through feature, which allows both side doors to be opened to process materials of unlimited length. Universal's ILS platform is also the only CO2 laser system in the world that can be converted between CDRH Class 1 and CDRH Class 4.

The ILS12.75 is dual laser compatible and has a processing power range of 10 watts, when using our smallest laser cartridge, to 150 watts when using two of our 75-watt lasers. The massive processing power of the ILS12.75 allows it to function as a standalone production solution, but it can also be integrated into an automated assembly line. In addition to the basic capabilities of the machine, there are a number of patented Uniquely Universal features that are only available from Universal Laser Systems. Laser Interface+ and Rapid Reconfiguration are Uniquely Universal features which come standard on the ILS12.75. Dual Laser Configuration, Super Speed and Pass-Through functionality are optional features that will reduce downtime and increase productivity. All Universal platforms use interchangeable components, giving you the ability to tailor your system to fit your needs.

Laminated Safety Glass
Glass viewing windows creating a safe enclosure for laser processing.
Over-temp Alarm (for fire safety)
An over temperature alarm installed in every Universal laser system monitors the temperature of the work area. If an unusually high temperature is detected the system will turn off the laser and trigger an audible alarm.
Multiple Automatic Focusing Modes
All Universal laser systems can be focused automatically based on material thickness or by using a convenient manual focusing tool. Some Universal laser systems can also be automatically focused using special sensors to detect the top surface of the material being laser processed.
Precision Digital Motors
Universal’s laser systems use high quality digital motors which don’t require expensive and complicated optical encoders to function, increasing reliability.
LCD display
PLS/ILS laser systems come equipped with an onboard LCD display, allowing you to move the motion system and Z axis manually during setup or to change job settings on the fly. This function is useful when determining optimal settings for new applications.
Wraparound Top and Front Door
The front and top doors of ILS laser systems mate with each other in a clamshell configuration for maximum ease in loading and unloading.

Laser Features

Laser Fan Control (to reduce noise)
Universal’s lasers are all air cooled by computer-controlled fans. Fan speed is reduced or increased as a function of laser temperature, reducing noise levels when the lasers are being used on lower power settings.
Smart Laser Source Technology
Because we manufacture our own lasers, Universal’s lasers can communicate their model number to the laser system CPU, allowing the laser system to automatically choose the right settings for a particular material based on available laser power.
Laser Pointer
A red laser pointer is installed for easy material alignment.
Wide Selection of Power Levels
Lasers are available at power levels from 10 to 150 watts.
Air-Cooled Laser Source
Because our laser sources are air-cooled, no complicated liquid cooling systems are required.
